Follow-up emails that actually get replies

The first cold email gets opened; the follow-up gets answered. Most exporters send one email and call the list dead. Here is what touches two through four should look like.

Why follow-up works when the first email did not

Silence usually means busy, not no. A buyer saw your name once; the second touch makes it familiar, the third makes it persistent in the good sense. Replies cluster after touch two — quitting after one email abandons the list exactly when it starts paying.

Each touch adds one new thing

Never send “just bumping this.” Touch two adds a relevant product line or a spec sheet. Touch three asks a small, answerable question — sourcing calendar, current supplier count. Touch four closes the loop politely and leaves the door open. New information is what separates persistence from nagging.

Spacing and stopping

Three to five business days between touches; four touches maximum, then stop — a list you did not burn can be re-approached next season with a new angle. Every touch honors unsubscribes immediately; that is law and reputation in one move.

Let the system carry the cadence

The discipline is boring, which is why humans drop it. Your AI team drafts the full sequence upfront — you approve once, and the cadence runs without you watching a calendar.

Outreach with the follow-up built in — drafted in your voice, approved by you, tracked in one dashboard.
